  • Martha Grekos has been quoted in MyLondon about her thoughts on Fleet Street area and Castle Baynard Ward:

Martha Grekos, Alder for the local Castle Baynard ward and Chair of the Fleet Street Quarter Public Realm Group, told the LDRS the 'unprecedented amount of development also means that an unprecedented amount of public realm improvements' are needed in the area.

"As Chair of the Fleet Street Quarter Public Realm Group - a group made up of City of London Corporation officers, developers who have invested in this area, elected members of the three wards and the FSQ BID - and as Alderwoman Leader of Castle Baynard Ward, I am delighted that we have been awarded £9m from the Community Infrastructure Levy fund to part-fund public realm improvement works in the area," she said.

"Fleet Street is at the heart of my ward; the main artery into the quarter. The envisaged public realm works are divided into short term, medium term and long term projects - all combining to enliven this area and bring together the 'good green growth' agenda I have been advocating since I was first elected. The first public realm improvement projects in this area will start as soon as the new court development is finished at the end of 2026 and over the next few years the green agenda in this area will unfold and fruition, creating a sense of place.

"I am looking forward to this area benefitting all those that live, work and visit it now and for years to come. It's an exciting evolutionary time for this area, but one must remember to take current and future community with it in this journey."
